School Construction Project

In April 2009 Children Of Hope Fundation acquired 1.5 acres of land in Santo for the future site of the new Academie La Vie Abondante.  Construction will begin shortly on the first 5 classrooms, which will be completed before the 2009-2010 school year.

The first phase of construction will allow the school to enroll over 100 children, ranging from First to Six grade. Three experienced teachers have been hired for the upcoming school year, while the search for a fourth additional teacher is underway (for a total of five teachers).

Santo Elementary School

Academie La Vie Abondante is a one room school with a dirt floor, tin walls and a tin roof.
Children Of Hope Foundation is raising funds to build a new school for the community of Santo. The school construction project encompasses building a 10 classroom concrete school building, hiring and training new teachers, purchasing furniture, supplies and materials.  The project will provide schooling to 200-250 children in Santo as well as other needy children from surrounding communities.

Children of Hope Foundation has been working with the administration of Academie La Vie Abondante since 2007.The small school in Tamarin, Santo provides First through Fifth grade classes for 37 children whose families do not have the means to pay the costs associated with private or public education.  Many of these children have poor attendance because they cannot make it to school on days when the weather is bad and they are unable to cross one of the many waterways on the island.
